Browsing for antiques is probably the one activity very few people come to the Dordogne for, and yet antique hunting very often ends up being the activity on which visitors to the area spend most of their time!
It is not surprising really, as there are so many little antique fairs on during the summer months- in chateau courtyards or village market squares, each one a treasure trove of bits and pieces, odds and ends from grand old homes that may have fallen on hard times, from attics and cellars, from collectors from all over France, and the chances of finding something quite unique at an amazing price are pretty good!
But beware! Once you have found a good bargain or that heirloom you have dreamed of all your life or that quaint trinket you cannot wait to take back home with you and show off at your next get-together with your friends, you are going to want to get the next fair, the next little pop-up flea market, the next brocante alongside the road! The fun and the excitement of bargain hunting antiques is addictive !
